The Belin-Blank Center is pleased to invite you to attend one (or more!) classes in our academic-year program: the Weekend INstitute for Gifted Students (WINGS). All students who have (1) participated in BESTS, (2) are a part of a gifted and talented program, or (3) have a unique ability in a particular subject area, are invited to attend. The Institute is designed for talented 3rd through 8th graders.

The course content is both invigorating and challenging, and is designed to stimulate the interest and curiosity of bright students. There are no formal qualifications required to participate in WINGS; however, students should be highly motivated to attend and be prepared for fast-paced, challenging work.

Classes will be held on The University of Iowa campus. Attendance is limited to 18 students per class and classes are filled on a first-received, first-served basis (enrollment in some classes may be limited to fewer students). Sessions will be from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $65 per class. This fee covers the cost of instruction and all materials. Financial aid is available to those participating in the free-or-reduced lunch program at their school and will cover one-half the cost ($30 per class).

Payment & Cancellation Policy

Payment and financial aid information is due with your application. Credit card payment is encouraged. If payment is not included with your application, the application will be considered incomplete and will be delayed until payment has been received. If you are requesting financial aid, be sure to send a copy of a letter from your school confirming that you participate in the free-or-reduced lunch program and enclose the $30 fee (per class).

If you must cancel, please call the Belin-Blank Center as soon as possible to decline the class so that a student on the waiting list may attend. Once you have paid for the class, one-half of the fee will be returned to you if you cancel by 4:00 p.m. on the Friday one week prior to the scheduled class. Cancellations after that time cannot be refunded.
